PhD student in strategic sustainable development with a focus on sustainable product development

As a PhD student, you will learn and practice to use scientific methods and publish results in scientific forums, as well as participate in projects with mainly Swedish industrial partners, and in the development of the research area of sustainable product development.

The research objective is to support companies to increase their capabilities for sustainability integration and implementation in the early product development phases, with improved decision support in the day-to-day engineering environment. The PhD student especially needs to contribute to:

Increase the maturity and applicability of methods and criteria developed together with industrial partners.

• Develop a modelling-based decision-support system that is applicable in the early phases of product development.
• Identify methods to quantify, measure, and visualise the sustainability profile of different solutions.
• Perform calculations of indicators, system dynamic models, and simpler forms of programming.

The PhD position usually includes supporting education and training in our courses and programs (max 20%). Examples of tasks include support in course development and teaching within the sustainability area, in addition to other forms of administration.
