The research group ‘Translational Neuroinflammation’ headed by Prof. Dr. Martin Weber at the Department of Neurology is looking for:
The successful candidate will be an active member of the ‘Translational Neuroinflammation’ group headed by Prof. Dr. M. S. Weber at the Department of Neurology/Institute of Neuropathology, University Medical Center Goettingen. The main research focus of our group is the investigation of pathological as well as regulatory functions of antigen-presenting cells for the initiation and progression of central nervous system demyelinating disorders such as multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) and anti-MOG antibody-associated central nervous system (CNS) demyelination.
The project:
As part of a DFG-funded project, the successful candidate will focus on investigating the role of regulatory B cells in containment of chronic CNS inflammation using adequate animal models, in vitro approaches and human study material. In vivo experiments will be performed in the mouse model ‘experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis’; in vitro experiments include primary cells as well as cell culture cell lines. Among other techniques, flow cytometry, magnetic cell separation (MACS), RNA isolation and sequencing, ELISA and immunohistochemistry will be used.
