PhD project: MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT AND DISCOVERY FOR SOLAR THERMOCHEMICAL PRODUCTION OF FUELS
October 18, 2019 in Funding Opportunity
Title of project: MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT AND DISCOVERY FOR SOLAR THERMOCHEMICAL PRODUCTION OF FUELS
Funding agency (Optional):
Description: Looking to hire motivated graduate students interested in renewable energy research. This project will focus on exploring new materials that are used in solar thermochemical redox cycles for producing solar hydrogen and other fuels. These cycles operate by concentrating sunlight and using this energy to drive highly endothermic reactions such as the dissociation of H2O into H2 or CO2 into CO, precursors to synthetic liquid fuels.
Restrictions/Constraints:
Knowledge and skills needed: Strong thermodynamics background, heat transfer, basic chemistry and material science.
How to apply: Please send CV to Prof. Scheffe.
Faculty contact/webpage: Prof. Jonathan Scheffe, jscheffe@ufl.edu , www.mae.ufl.edu/scheffelab
