PhD project: COMPUTATIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR RAPID OPTIMAL SPACE AND ATMOSPHERIC FLIGHT MISSION PLANNING

UFL

October 18, 2019 in Funding Opportunity

  • Title of project: Computational Framework for Rapid Optimal Space and Atmospheric Flight Mission Planning
  • Funding Agency: Office of Naval Research/U.S. Air Force
  • Description: The objective of the research is to
develop a framework for optimal control using advanced collocation
methods, nonlinear optimization, and algorithmic differentiation in
order to enable solving applications in high speed atmospheric flight
and space flight mechanics.  Applications will include hypersonic flight
(ascent and entry), uninhabited aerial vehicles (UAVs), and space
    flight orbital transfer.
  • Restrictions/Constraints: Open To US Citizens Only
  • Knowledge and skills Needed: Understanding of basic
Newton-Euler dynamics, control systems, and programming in MATLAB.  It
is desirable that the student has an understanding of computer science
algorithms and data structures (as would have been taught in an
introductory programming course in C or C++)
  • How to apply: Send CV and short research interest statement to Dr. Anil V. Rao
  • Faculty contact/webpage: Dr. Anil V. Rao, [email protected] , http://www.anilvrao.com or http://vdol.mae.ufl.edu
