PhD position Business Administration – Supply/Operations Management

We are looking for candidates who will take the responsibility for creating and disseminating new knowledge in supply chain management.

The research group’s interests lie in the areas of procurement, supply chain, logistics, and operations management with a special focus on risk and disruptions, interfirm relationships, innovation and entrepreneurship, sustainability, and strategies and performance. We strongly encourage industry collaboration to help bridge between theory and practice.

The candidate will be responsible for her/his own doctoral research, provide support for research projects, supervise master students, and assist in teaching. S/he is also expected to participate in our corporate outreach and educational programs. Candidates should be willing and interested in writing research-oriented papers for scholarly journals, conferences, and practitioner journals.

We provide Ph.D. students with an optimal working environment, including funding (75%) and strong guidance throughout their doctoral project. There will be ample possibilities to collaborate with research institutes and universities abroad, and to present research results at international conferences.

In turn, we expect a Master’s Degree with excellent grades in business administration, industrial engineering, or a closely related subject in the behavioral, economic, or mathematical sciences, very high proficiency in English, strong team spirit, social skills, independence, and a high level of motivation for academic research work. Advanced methodological skills in statistics, econometrics, or mathematical modeling, German language proficiency, and experience in consulting or industry are a plus.

The position commences immediately and will typically span three years, including doctoral coursework.
