Synthesis of bi- and trimetallic nanoparticles for the selective deuteration of molecules of biological interest
The study of the mechanisms of interaction of molecules with their biological targets requires the use of isotope labeling. Different approaches are possible. At LPCNO we have developed late labeling through catalytic exchange of hydrogen with deuterium by activation of C-H bonds. The labeling must be selective to be effective and must not cause parasitic reactions such as reductions of aromatic rings. We propose the development of bi- and trimetallic catalysts formed of nanoparticles of sizes between 1 and 2 nm and stabilized either on a heterogeneous support (carbon, SirAlox) or by lipo- or water-soluble ligands based on N-heterocyclic carbenes. The thesis will require to synthesize nanoparticles by organometallic route, to characterize them at the state-of-the-art by solid and solution NMR, X-ray diffraction and small-angle X-ray scattering, electron microscopy and classical spectroscopic methods.
