Description
Responsibilities: One PhD Assistantship is available beginning January 2023. The PhD student will participate in a field- and laboratory-based project aimed at quantifying thermal tolerances of native fishes and conduct statistical modeling of flow and temperature relationships to investigate if flow-dependent temperatures exceed thermal tolerances during the summer under current or future, predicted climate scenarios in the Edisto River Basin, SC. The student will conduct dissertation research and complete course work in the Department of Forestry & Environmental Conservation at Clemson University while working closely with South Carolina DNR biologists to conduct field work and complete project objectives. Other duties include mentoring undergraduate students, supervising technicians, report writing, presenting at scientific meetings, and publishing scientific manuscripts.

Qualifications
Qualification: B.S. (required) or M.S. degree (preferred) in biology, ecology, wildlife and
fisheries science, or other related fields with competitive GPA. Successful applicants will be
creative, motivated, and capable of working effectively both independently and in collaborative groups. Strong writing, quantitative, and people-management skills are essential.
