About the position

One three-year PhD position within experimental study of two-phase flow instabilities is available at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, NTNU, Trondheim.

For a position as a PhD Candidate, the goal is a completed doctoral education up to an obtained doctoral degree.

The position is part of the project “Phenomenological study of unstable two-phase CO2 flow in a pipeline system”. This project focuses on fundamental research to establish a physical understanding on the occurrence of two-phase flow instabilities (density wave oscillations and pressure drop oscillations) related to CO2 pipeline systems.

The selected candidates will be involved in studying two-phase flow instabilities in horizontal and vertical pipelines. The work will involve the characterization of the two-phase flow instabilities, limits of stabilities, and identifying the underlying physical mechanisms controlling the oscillations. The work will be mainly experimental complemented with the development of analytical models.

The selected candidate will join our ongoing activities at the Thermal Two-Phase Flow Laboratory (ThTPFLab) at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, NTNU. For more information on the ThTPFLab group, please follow this link .

The position will report to Professor Terese Løvås, Head of the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, for employee matters and to Professor Carlos A. Dorao in day-to-day project management and supervision.
