About the SnT
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications from highly motivated PhD candidates in the general area of
radio resource allocation for emerging wireless networks within its Signal Processing and Communications (SIGCOM) research group. SnT carries out
interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or
international partners. For further information, you may refer to www.securityandtrust.lu

The SIGCOM research group carries out research activities in the areas of signal processing for wireless communication systems, including satellite
communications, SIGCOM is currently expanding its research activities in exploring several emerging topics of next-generation communications systems. For
details, you may refer to the following: https://wwwen.uni.lu/snt/research/sigcom

The University of Luxembourg is seeking to hire a highly motivated and outstanding PhD candidate in the area of Semantic and Task-oriented Communication
Design for its SIGCOM research group, led by Prof. Björn Ottersten and Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas.

We’re looking for people driven by excellence, excited about innovation, and looking to make a difference. If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the
right place!

Semantic and Task-oriented Communications Design for 6G Networks. The purpose of this project is to develop a novel communication design paradigm for
multi-agent cyber-physical 6G systems which simultaneously maximizes the task effectiveness metric and the network resource usage. The developed
task-oriented communication design is expected to apply to various important application domains, such as Industrial IoT, Multi-UAV systems, and
multi-layer wireless networks.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas and Dr. Thang X. Vu and join a strong and motivated research team
lead by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas and Prof. Björn Ottersten.

The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:

* Work on an emerging research topic of Task-oriented communications design for 6G networks
* Carry out research in the predefined areas
* Disseminate results through scientific publications in the top-tier venues
* Present results in top-tier international conferences and workshops
