Pharmacy Technician Trainee

NOTE: Online classroom training through Pharmacy Technician University, Experiential training in our state-of-the-art pharmacy, Preparation for passing the national certification exam. Candidates accepting a position will continue in their role as a pharmacy technician after completing the program and achieving their Virginia Registration.
Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.

• Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals, to improve patient outcomes.
• Process insurance claims, and initiate prior authorizations.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ability to work independently and as a team with minimal supervision.
• Policies and procedures are followed consistently.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
• Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
• Shift Time: Rotating- Day, Evening, and Weekends.

Position Compensation Range: $16.64 – $25.79 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.

Experience: No experience required.

Licensure: Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of hire required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.
