Position Summary

A California registered technician who under the supervision of a Pharmacist will support the startup, training and auditing activities required for the control of the Investigational Drug inventory and billing. Activities will include monthly inventory audits, ordering drug supplies, coordination and charging for the purchase of drugs used for research, receipt of drug shipments and the preparation and distribution of drug shipments to satellite facilities. Candidate will maintain all aspects of inventory records and meet with study sponsors to ensure all regulations are being met and followed. Must have excellent written and computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.  The candidate must assist with database management to support research efforts with inventory control, billing, workload statistics, and other informational resources.  Is able and capable of performing duties of the pharmacy technician and support of IDS pharmacy technician responsibilities as needed.  Maintains clean, orderly, organized and presentable work area.

 

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensures efficient and productive operation of assigned work location. 
  • Performs technician functions accurately and thoroughly.
  • Acts as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning basic pharmaceutical information to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Assists the pharmacist in billing pharmaceuticals. 
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff. Fosters the development of teamwork within the department while meeting the needs of departments being served.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess a situation, consider the alternatives and choose an appropriate course of action.
  • Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Completes written documentation.

 

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

 

Minimum Education:    

  • High School or equivalent
  • Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
  • Or graduation from a foreign School of Pharmacy

             

Minimum Experience:  

  • One year performing related duties or graduation from a Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.

             

Required Courses/Training:       

  • Pharmacy Technician program.

             

Req. Certification/Licensure:     

  • Registered by Pharmacy Board.

             

           

Preferred Experience:   

  • Experience with Epic preferred.
  • Experience with Vestigo preferred.
