Required License/Registration/Certification Registered with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire. National Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) by either PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) required within 9 months of hire date.
Physical Requirements This position requires use of a computer workstation, completion of tasks with repetitive motions, and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. This position also requires significant walking each shift. This position may require personnel to wear personal protective equipment to reduce risk of exposure to work-related hazards (e.g. handling of hazardous medications).
Shift 7days on/7days off; 7:00 pm – 7:00 am or 7:00 pm – 5:30 am with some holiday requirements.
Job Summary UK Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in providing medications to patients in an inpatient hospital setting. This position will be a vital part of our growing team serving UK HealthCare patients and staff. The selected candidate will prepare and/or deliver products for individual patient doses including batch doses, as well as participate in ongoing inventory management, replenish automated dispensing cabinets, and provide customer service to UK HealthCare patients and other healthcare professionals participating in patient care. The Pharmacy Technician will also assist nursing personnel by assuring that patient medications are available on the patient care unit.
Applicants who possess a National Pharmacy Technician Certification through PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) are eligible to be hired into a Pharmacy Senior Technician/UKHC position, which is a grade 7 ($18.50/hour – $27.31/hour). All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.
UK Healthcare offers candidates who do not currently hold a National Pharmacy Technician certification the opportunity to gain the 500 hours of on-the-job experience required to be able to obtain your certification. Applicants who are not certified at time of hire are eligible to receive a pay increase and be moved into Pharmacy Senior Technician/UKHC, grade 7 role once certification has been obtained and 90 days of successful employment have been completed.
