Description
The Wildlife Ecology Laboratory at Tennessee State University announces the availability of a Ph.D. position that will begin as soon as possible (preferably January 2, 2023). The successful applicant will be expected to lead a project to evaluate the impacts of urbanization on Streamside Salamander (Ambystoma barbouri) populations in Tennessee. The doctoral student will be responsible for all aspects of the project, including project design, on-site monitoring, data analysis, report preparation, and drafting of peer-reviewed manuscripts. The successful applicant should also have an interest in further developing environmental DNA analysis methods and using geospatial datasets to model local and landscape-scale effects of urbanization for the target species.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have an M.S. degree in wildlife ecology, biology, zoology, or other related field. Experience with R, ArcGIS, and occupancy modeling is desired. Previous experience desired with wildlife monitoring (preferably amphibians) is preferred. Applicant must have a valid U.S. drivers license, be able to work independently, and maintain a positive attitude during cold and wet field conditions.
