Summary of Duties:

The Program Manager position works for the Peer Bridger Program and Peer Respite Program. The Peer Bridger program provides peer support services to individuals who are in state hospitals and inpatient mental health facilities during their transition out of and after their return to their communities. A Peer Bridger must be a Certified Peer Counselor who is employed at a behavioral health agency licensed by the Department of Health that provides recovery services. The Manager manages both the budget and the contracts associated with this program. The Manager is responsible for the administrating, managing and providing oversight for the Peer Bridger Program. The Manager provides direct support to the Peer Bridgers by facilitating monthly administrative calls, in-person meetings in coordination with State Hospital staff, BH-ASO’s, ASO’s, Providers and Hospital Liaisons.

The Manager is responsible for the management and direction of the implementation of Peer Respites in Washington State. Peer Respites provide voluntary, short term, non-crisis services peer support services to individuals who are experiencing psychiatric distress, but do not meet legal requirement for involuntary hospitalization. The Manager will provide ongoing technical assistance needs of the developing workforce and the operationalizing of the new Peer Respites at host organizations. The Manager will also provide policy guidance in the implementation of Peer Respites in Washington State in collaboration with HCA/DBHR leadership. The Manager will be responsible for the management and direction Peer Respites, will provide consultative expertise to top level managers within DSHS and HCA regarding Peer Respite Services and be responsible for developing and maintaining positive partnership with community and internal stakeholders.

The work location for this position is Olympia, WA. The Manager will report to the HCA/DBHR representative and section supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain certification as a Certified Peer Counselor, which includes experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

  • Advance knowledge of the peer certification and training programs.

  • Firm knowledge of the local, state and federal peer resources.
