Job Summary:

The International Division is seeking a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) to work 50% time (20 hours per week) as the Peace Corps Campus Recruiter. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, is comfortable speaking in front of a large crowd, is detail oriented and is an enthusiastic supporter of the Peace Corps. The representative serves as an information source for students, faculty, staff and others interested in Peace Corps through classroom talks, general information sessions, information tables and career fairs, and serves as liaison to the RPCVs of Wisconsin-Madison. Recruiter coordinates and implements marketing and publicity for Peace Corps events through approved PC sources, establishes regular office hours, provides administrative functions and record-keeping for the UW-Madison Peace Corps recruiting office to meet the UW and Peace Corps contract goals.
The campus Peace Corps recruiter serves as an information source for students, faculty, staff and others interested in Peace Corps through classroom talks, general information sessions, information tables and career fairs, and a liaison to the RPCVs of Wisconsin-Madison. The individual coordinates and implements marketing and publicity for Peace Corps events, establishes regular office hours and provides administrative functions and record-keeping for the UW-Madison Peace Corps recruiting office to meet the UW and Peace Corps contract goals.
Developing a recruitment plan in conjunction with the assigned Peace Corps agency regional recruiter to achieve recruitment goals. The plan must be submitted to the Midwest Regional Manager within 30 days of the beginning of the contract.
Planning and executing recruitment activities on campus to reach specified goal targets such as agriculture, environmental education, English teaching etc.
Stewarding and expanding a network of campus supporters to help disseminate opportunity information
Conducting recruitment outreach initiatives
Publicizing recruitment events and activities utilizing a variety of techniques
Establishing and administering office operations
Marketing and Communication, including via social media
Gathering and submitting lead information in a timely manner, for agency follow-up

Responsibilities: Coordinates and delivers career development programming, resource materials, and/or advising to students and alumni. Educates students, alumni, and other stakeholders about career development and opportunities and maintains relationships to aid in effective career planning. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

  • 35% Educates or advises students and recent alumni individually or in groups through various mediums about career exploration, self-assessment, skills, materials development, and career decisions
  • 15% Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
  • 20% Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
  • 10% May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students
  • 5% Participates in the campus-wide career services community, providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit
  • 15% Meets regularly with Peace Corps staff for agency updates and training; completes / files monthly and annual reports for Peace Corps (contracting agency)

Education:

Required
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
Excellent and proactive oral and written communication skills
Networking ability; comfort/experience with cold calling
Demonstrated organizational and event-planning skills
Time management skills and the ability to prioritize
Experience with electronic/social media, ideally for business use (Facebook, Twitter, Skype, web updates, power point; webinars)
Physical ability to haul/transport PC marketing materials across the UW-Madison campus
Experience using spreadsheets and databases
Temperament/profile to successfully work independently and without close supervision
Detail-oriented focus
Required: Applicants must have completed service as a Peace Corps Volunteer
Preferred: Experience with 1 on 1 and group advising

Work Type:

Part Time: 50%
Additional Remote Work Details: An office on campus is provided and the recruiter is expected to spend 10 hours, minimum, there each week. The balance of the hours will be on-campus but at other locations and events as arranged by the recruiter, to maximize in-person student engagement.

Full appointment contingent upon US Government security clearance authorization.
One position is available at 50% (20 hours per week) during the academic year; contingent upon annual funding from the Peace Corps. Renewal of the position in subsequent years is contingent upon contract renewal and on-going funding from Peace Corps.
