| Job Summary | The Patient Services Coordinator/UKHC will be responsible for front end coordination and intake pertaining to the patient visit. This includes problem solving, delegation, scheduling coordination of care for appointments including clinic, radiology, chemo, and radiation therapy, in addition to any other necessary appointments. This individual will perform all necessary patient registration and/or paper processing necessary for the patient registration, and appropriate reimbursement to be obtained by hospital and physicians; collects copays. Duties include, but is not limited to, consents for treatment, authorization for release of information, Federal Medicare messages, HIPPA Privacy Notices; assist in verification of financial data provided by the patient at registration and assign the appropriate financial classifications, insurance plan codes, and coordination of benefits. Will assign medical record numbers after completing thorough search of database; ensures that necessary referrals and insurance authorizations have been obtained; direct patients/visitors to correct location; treats all internal and external customers with dignity and respect; use online information to confirm patient’s destination whenever the patient seems unsure, or when there is no paperwork. Display teamwork and collaboration with coworkers, and compile with federal, state, University, hospital and departmental policies and standard other healthcare professionals to care for patient needs. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need to protect our university community including our students, staff, faculty and visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19, or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated. |
