The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Patient Services Associate to serve as a member of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team at the College of Dentistry. Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of related experience in a general office setting.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Knowledge of standard office protocol and the use of standard office equipment.

Knowledge of the use of a multi-line phone system.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Responsibilities:

Greet patients and schedules appointments in person or by phone with a friendly manner. Confers with patient regarding current charges and answers any questions they may have.

Collects payments for services. Confirms all scheduled appointments 48 hours in advance for Facial Pain, Sleep Medicine, and Center for Maxillofacial Prosthodontics. Supports other front desk activities as needed for multiple clinics. Confirms all scheduled patient appointments 48 hours in advance for Facial pain, Sleep Medicine and Center for Maxillofacial Prosthodontics.

Update patient demographics in the electronic dental record while maintaining security and confidentiality of patient information and finances while maintaining a computerized appointments system for multiple doctors in accordance with distributed calendars, guidelines, and individual requests.

Ability to back up and/ or fill in for other front desk personnel or assistants in the clinic.

Develop a working understanding of the practice and procedures at the clinic and clearly convey them to patients while addressing all questions in a professional and coherent manner.

Other duties as assigned by Director of Professional Services or Department Chair.
