Physical Requirements The physical requirements for this position include: regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time performing tasks with repetitive motion (such as typing); standing or walking, pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 10 lbs.; and occasionally pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50 lbs. The conditions of work may involve regular exposure to loud noises, intermittent exposure to blood borne/airborne pathogens and combative/violent people, and occasional exposure to cuts and punctures.
Shift Monday – Friday, Day Shift; 8:30am – 5:00pm
May require occasional nights and weekends per departmental needs.
Job Summary The Preop Anesthesia Clinic is seeking a Patient Relations Assistant to be responsible for scheduling appointments in a high volume clinic area. Duties will include but not limited to: respectfully acknowledging and greeting patients, some patient registration, insurance verification and pre-certifications as needed. Additionally, this position will be responsible for coordinating arrival times with patients and scheduling appointments. Will establish coordination of benefits, collect insurance co-pays and fees for services not covered by insurance, schedule return appointments according to scheduling protocol and ensure timely and appropriate follow-up with patients on all appointment requests. Must be able to work in fast paced office and maintain medical confidentiality.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities The ideal candidate will have extensive customer service experience and the ability to communicate in a calm and helpful manner during stressful and/or crisis situations. Should also have the ability to demonstrate a high regard for attention to detail; a teamwork mindset; data entry skills and respect for confidentiality; ability to prioritize tasks efficiently; and the ability to work in multiple systems simultaneously.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service and 3.5 years of experience in medical office work preferred; prior patient registration and insurance verification experience highly preferred.
