Description

 

The part-time Project Assistant in the Charles Library focuses on digitized Philadelphia Evening Bulletin microfilm and will receive pre-professional experience in uploading digitized issues of the Bulletin into ContentDM and in creating and editing descriptive metadata. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position works up to 19 hours a week.

This is an endowment/grant-funded position.

Required Education and Experience:
Current enrollment in an ALA-accredited library or information science graduate program.  Experience in creating and editing descriptive metadata and participating in digitization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Familiarity with relevant software (Adobe Acrobat; Open Refine).
*Interest in archives and archival techniques.  
*Coursework or experience in metadata creation
* Ability to demonstrate initiative, and work collaboratively and collegially.
*Effective interpersonal communication skills.
*Attention to detail.

Preferred
*Familiarity with ContentDM.
*Familiarity with metadata schemes such as Dublin Core.
