As a part-time Professor, you will develop and deliver curriculum using various engaging and innovative methods, playing a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence through sound, teaching practice.

The School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts is seeking qualified professionals to join the Food Processing Technician Program to teach the following courses part-time from January 2025 – April 2025

  • Food Processing 1
  • Millwright Machine Technology and Workshop Practice
  • Electrical Theory, Motor Controls and HRAC
  • Millwright Introduction to Mechanical Systems and Repair

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm, both in-person and online with these courses being taught in-person at the Cambridge – Fountain street campus location at 850 Fountain Street South. Part-time Professors typically teach 1-2 courses. Courses are approximately 3-6 hours per week in the classroom for a 14-week term.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field
  • Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
  • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of student work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
  • Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college

Qualifications

  • Relevant education required
  • Designation, certification, or current registration in good standing, if applicable
  • Minimum 5 years of experience is required
  • Adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with curriculum development is considered an asset
  • Experience with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is preferred
  • Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodation, is an asset
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset
