Job Duties:

1. Conducts individual in-person and remote tutoring sessions for math courses.

2. Approaches tutoring with a learner-centered focus to increase students’ confidence and success.

3. Has strong oral and written skills. Communicates with tutoring supervisor to ensure effective tutoring methodologies. Understands and supports the student-teacher relationship.

4. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of tutoring sessions.

5. Guides students on how to develop active and independent learning skills.

6. Adapts strategies for specific learning differences.

7. Attends and participates in regular one-on-one and group training sessions.

8. Assists with training of new tutors.

9. Stays up to date on current trends in academic writing and tutoring practices.

10. Has experience working with a diversity.

11. Performs other duties as assigned by the tutoring supervisor.

12. Adheres to student and staff policies as determined by Aims Community College.

Work Hours: Part-Time, must have availability to work weekdays and weekends

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States either on a part-time or full-time basis.

1. MA/MS in related field from a regionally accredited institution or combination of equivalent education and/or experience or certification in related area.

2. Two years of teaching experience in related content area.

3. Interview plus written approval of a content/skill instructor and/or interview plus endorsement of tutor trainer/supervisor.

4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students and colleagues.

Minimum Payment Amount:

$31.82

Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.
