JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The School of Labor and Employment Relations in the College of the Liberal Arts is currently seeking two part-time administrative support assistants to work on the school reception for the Fall 2022 Semester with a possible extension through the Spring 2023 Semester (no summer extension would be required/available ). One appointee would work 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. while the other would work 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., both Monday through Friday. The hours can however be somewhat flexible to accommodate candidates’ situations.

The work environment in the School of Labor and Employment Relations is dynamic, lively, and collaborative with a high value placed on maintaining a positive atmosphere. The individual in this opening must provide professional and welcoming customer service to a wide range of people, including students, employment recruiters, alumni, faculty, other staff, visiting scholars, and internal and external vendors, as well as other guests.

Job Duties
Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Greet visitors entering the School of Labor and Employment Relations front office suite.
  • Answer telephone calls and email inquiries.
  • Maintain supply area and order as necessary.
  • General maintenance of shared spaces including conference rooms, reception area, and kitchen.
  • Retrieve mail and distribute.
  • Supporting faculty or other staff with printing, scanning, and copying needs.
  • Distribute keys to faculty and staff when required.
  • Assist with other assignments, projects, and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Current enrolled Penn State Students are not eligible for consideration.
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service and the ability to switch quickly between tasks is desirable.
  • Candidates must be able to work independently as well as being a contributing member of the larger staff team.
  • Successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
