Job Summary

The Parking Valet/Cashier is responsible for:  Collection of public parking fees; makes change from controlled University change fund, reconciles daily receipts, prepares deposit forms, and assures security of assigned fund and other cashiering and departmental inventory items according to established policies and procedures; operates cash control equipment; controls entry to pay lots and structures; answers questions and provides directions to customers as to the location of campus and hospital buildings and related areas;  performs minor repairs and maintenance on mechanical parking equipment;  operates portable radios and intercoms;  provides breaks and back-up coverage for absent cashiering and valet staff; provides cashiering and valet coverage for special events.

This position is responsible for opening the floor, valet stack parking, overseeing parking of vehicles, greeting visitors, providing information, advising patrons of parking regulations, providing limited security for parked vehicles, and other parking attendant duties as needed, or required.  This position is also responsible for issuing maintaining and collecting tickets and vehicle keys; answering questions, providing directions, information and assistance to patrons as needed; operating portable radios; performing daily permit audits, cleaning/sweeping in garages and lots, collecting wheelchairs, and patrolling/enforcing all garage and parking lot facilities as needed or required.

Incumbent must be willing to work and travel to any assigned UCSF campus as needed  on short notice and must be able to work overtime as needed or required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year cash-handling experience, preferably in public contact work.
  • High School diploma/GED  or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate clearly and effectively,
  • Ability to operate manual, automatic, and electric vehicles in and out of tight parking spaces quickly and efficiently.
  • Possess basic computer skills for valet/cashier operations.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations for valet/cashier operations,
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated record of exceptional attendance and punctuality.
  • Act in accordance with  organizational policies, procedures, and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a health or medical center related environment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of valet parking experience.

License/Certification

  • Valid California Driver’s License and an excellent driving record required; no license restrictions other than for corrective lenses (applicants are required to present a current copy of their DMV record with their application/resume).Class C with CA DMW H6 Driving Record Report
