Paediatric Senior Research Nurse – Diabetes and Inflammation Laboratory

We are seeking to appoint a Paediatric Senior Research Nurse to join the Diabetes and Inflammation Laboratory (DIL) at Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine. This is an exciting new opportunity as we expand the clinical research team, with a focus on screening and prevention for childhood type 1 diabetes.

You will be required to undertake an assisting/coordinating role in clinical trials and research studies in collaboration with the Senior Trials Manager, the Directorship of the DIL, members of the DIL and collaborators, locally, nationally and internationally. Your main responsibilities will be working with members of the translational clinical studies team to develop protocols, obtaining informed consent, undertaking and supervising research protocols predominantly in children but also in adults, administration of study medicines as required by the study protocol, collection of samples including blood, and the writing and processing of study documentation. You will be responsible to obtain venous and capillary blood samples as study requires.

It is essential that you are NMC registered within the speciality of Paediatrics, and have experience of conducting, and commitment to, clinical research. You will have completed or be willing to undertake the ICH – GCP training, and you will strong leadership skills. It is essential that you have excellent written and verbal skills, and be able to organise, prioritise your own workload, and act on own initiative yet also work as part of a team. Due to the nature of the post, you will be required to work onsite on Tuesdays, and you will have access to own transport as the post may involve local travel.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract initially for 12-month with the possibility to further extend, but this is subject to availability of external funding; and is funded by EASD-NN Prize.
