Summary

The Optometrist is a medical provider who provides optometric care.  The Optometrist examines patients to determine the nature and degree of vision problems and/or eye disease.  They work closely with Ophthalmologists in which to manage care. 

 

Fellowship training is a plus.  Role is located in an off-site Harris Health Clinic.

Job Duties

• Examine patients and perform various tests to determine visual acuity and perception.
• Prescribing eyeglasses, corrective lenses and other vision aids or therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
• Consult with patients and refer them to Ophthalmologists or other health care practitioners if additional medical treatment is determined necessary.
• Study eye diseases and how to prevent and cure them.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD).
• Current license as an Optometrist by the Texas Optometry Board.
