About the opportunity

The Operations Manager provides executive operational, administrative and project support to the Chief of Staff, and Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President more broadly. They will ensure overall general management of operational and administrative systems, processes and programs to meet these requirements in alignment with University policies and practices.

The Operations Manager develops operational plans to guide the organisation and utilisation of the workforce, and operational resources to meeting the priorities and objectives of the unit.  The successful candidate will manage operational budgets and prepares reports as required for management groups and governance committees and a safe working environment for all staff. They will ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory controls and ensures a safe working environment for all staff.

About you

  • demonstrated commitment to the University’s values and ability to work positively with a diverse range of backgrounds
  • effective managing a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships
  • financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure
  • demonstrated experience in making policies and exercising sound advice on policy and procedures
  • flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and environments and, when necessary, navigating through ambiguity.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
