Operations Assistant (part time), Anatomical Donor Program – Georgetown University Medical Center

With a mission to fulfill donors’ final wishes and advance medical science through cadaveric study, the Anatomical Donor Program is integral to Georgetown University’s medical school curriculum.

As Operations Assistant, you play a key role in providing clerical and tactical support to nurture our nation’s next generation of doctors. While serving in this position, you will gain valuable experience in anatomical sciences and will have the unparalleled opportunity to help community members in D.C. and the surrounding area carry out their final wishes to help advance medical education. Duties include but are not limited to:

The Operations Assistant provides robust administrative and operational support to the Operations Manager for the School of Medicine’s anatomy lab and anatomical donor program. The assist with a wide range of activities, including managing cadaver intake, ensuring the anatomy labs are set up for curricular activities, managing the procurement operations of the department are met, assisting with cadaver intake, and tracking, data entry, record keeping, and event planning. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate anatomical donor program enrollment
  • Assist the Operations Manager in executing clerical tasks and uphold office organization
  • Order and restock supplies to support office, laboratory, and morgue operations
  • Oversee office and laboratory organizational management under Operations Manager supervision
  • Serve as liaison between GU’s Anatomical Donor Program and our contracted funeral service vendor to ensure swift creation and authentication of death certificates and permits
  • Provide moderate mechanical and technical assistance as needed; to include laboratory setup and housekeeping
  • Field donor program inquiries and ensure the success of each body donation from the time of registration until the return of cremated remains to donor families

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Assistant engages with a diverse array of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, donors, external vendors, and partner programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency – preference for Associate’s degree or higher
  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service or client-facing role
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite proficiency
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • High-level time management skills and ability to manage shifting priorities
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
