Recently, IFC has established a new 2030 Gender and Inclusion Vision to deliver game-changing private sector partnerships and programs to accelerate gender equality and inclusion in emerging markets, aligned with the new World Bank Group (WBG) Gender Strategy (2024-30). Five priorities have been identified as offering high potential for gender and inclusion impact in and through the private sector. These areas aim to (1) Allocate Capital that Drives Inclusion, (2) Make Supply Chains Inclusive, and (3) Remove Barriers to Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Leadership (including addressing gender-based violence). Equally important are three cross-cutting themes that are foundational to achieving sustainable results across the priority areas and require action: (4) Bridging the Digital Divide; (5) Accelerating Inclusive and Gender-Smart Climate Action; and (6) Ending Gender-based Violence and Harassment. 

 As part of its mandate, IFC’s Cross-Cutting Vice Presidency includes a dedicated team, the Gender and Economic Inclusion (GEI) Department (GEIDR), that works with IFC’s investment and advisory teams to support private and public sector clients in providing all genders and underserved communities with equal economic opportunities as leaders, employees, entrepreneurs, consumers, and community members. GEID leads strategy development and implementation for the organization, provides tailored operational solutions and client advice, supports mobilization through impact investing and sustainable financing; and forges public and private sector partnerships with the aim of creating economic opportunities and development for all. GEID’s Operations team is deployed across regions.   

Role & Responsibilities:

  • The Operations Analyst will report to the Global Operations Manager, and support her with diverse tasks pertaining to the operationalization of IFC’s new gender strategy. The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • The Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the Global Operations Manager by coordinating activities within the front office and ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations. This role’s main purpose is to facilitate effective internal communication, manage operational data, and provide analytical support in responding to corporate requests. This role requires a proactive and organized individual capable of managing multiple tasks, liaising with various stakeholders, and ensuring the seamless operation of the front office.

Specific duties and accountabilities include but are not limited to: 

Analytical Support 

  • Providing analytical support to the Global Operations Manager by conducting data analysis and generating insights to inform decision-making and drive operational improvements.
  • Developing and maintaining dashboards and reports to visualize and communicate analytical findings to stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the identification and implementation of process improvements based on data-driven insights.

 Project Management 

  • Assisting in coordinating and managing projects within the front office, including creating project plans, tracking progress, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Coordinating and facilitating meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting meeting minutes, and tracking action items
  • Contributing to corporate projects, ensuring that these are completed on time and within scope. 
  • Supporting the Global Operations Manager in conducting post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
  • Contributing to the preparation and timely delivery of presentations, reports, and strategy documents.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serving as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders interacting with the Gender Operations unit and the Regional Leads and Sub-Regional Program Officers. This includes coordinating communications between the Global Operations Manager and various departments, partners, and clients. 
  • Responsibly managing confidential information with discretion, maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions.

 Communication and Knowledge Management 

  • Drafting project communications and project reports in collaboration with the Regional Leads and the Communication specialists. 
  • Provide quality control by monitoring documents for accuracy, ensuring adherence to unit guidelines and procedures, and assisting in editing, formatting, and production of documents and correspondence.
  • Supporting the Global Operations Manager in publishing specific results on social media, in coordination with Communication specialists.
  • Supporting the organization and delivery of the team’s major internal/external events. 
  • Coordinating/Ensuring the team’s contribution to intranet (department page and communities page). 

Front office

  • Supporting the Global Operations Manager with the follow-through of commitments and answering inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Coordinating daily activities, including scheduling meetings, travel arrangements, coordinating responses to corporate requests, maintaining key documentation. 
  •  Other tasks could be added depending on skills and need.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, international relations, or other relevant discipline required; a Master’s degree in a similar area will be a plus. 
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in fields relevant to private sector development, development, and if possible, gender.  
  • Familiarity with IFC’s strategic priorities and operations. 
  • Strong analytical and conceptual formulation capabilities, including the ability to distill and summarize large amounts of information from various sources to prepare business documents and presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write in a logical and comprehensive, yet concise manner.  
  • Good project management skills with proven ability to support execution of projects against often-short timelines. 
  • Proficiency in the latest technology relevant to assigned responsibilities. Demonstrate initiative in learning and/or supporting implementation of emerging technology and systems relevant to effective work of the unit, including but not limited to Admin Portal, SAP, ePayables, Travel System, Webex, Teams
  • Advanced user-level proficiency of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.  
  • Strong clients focus and excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a positive and collaborative attitude and proven capacity to build and manage effective relationships. 
  • Strong command of English (written and verbal)
