Job Summary
Ensure the smooth operation of the Accessible Education Office.
Position Description
Ensure the smooth operation of the Accessible Education Office. Function as first point of contact for the office, respond to general phone calls, emails and walk-in inquiries; route to appropriate staff as necessary. Given the time-sensitive nature of inquiries, log each contact and coordinate responses with appropriate staff to ensure timely action. Coordinate accommodations for students with temporary illnesses and injuries. Coordinate both internal and external office communications. Maintain databases, with primary responsibility for data entry. Prepare and maintain administrative reports. Assume primary responsibility for the preparation and distribution of accommodation letters. Closely collaborate with AEO staff, Exams Office, Building Managers, and other campus colleagues to coordinate final exams with accommodations. Maintain and update department website. Create and maintain office systems. Serve as primary liaison with HUIT regarding department’s technology needs Maintain. inventory of office supplies. Contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of office administration or customer service experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Discretion, excellent judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive and confidential information in relation to students with disabilities. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as circumstances dictate. Experience working with a diverse student population. Advanced proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and websites, and ability to identify and learn new programs and software as needed. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail. Experience in Disability Services in Higher Education or demonstrated interest in acquiring expertise in the field preferred. Knowledge of the ADA Amendments Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (1973), and FERPA preferred. May be tested on appropriate computer skills as required.
Physical Requirements
Sitting using near vision use for reading and computer use for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting.
This position will be based in Cambridge, MA.
