The Office of Student Life Student Conduct administers the Code of Student Conduct to protect student rights, help foster a safe and secure educational environment while upholding the standards of the University community by establishing accountability for student choices. The Office Associate is integral to this important work and we seek an individual who is motivated and invested in becoming a part of the team and a true partner in Student Life’s mission to engage, learn and thrive.
The position requires someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and organized. Critical to this role is the ability:

  • to anticipate needs proactively
  • to follow through with projects
  • to coordinate and communicate effectively with others, and
  • to prioritize multiple job responsibilities

The successful applicant must have the ability to work both independently and in a team. The work is varied and includes administrative as well as project-oriented responsibilities. The role provides comprehensive office support for Student Conduct staff and includes performing duties such as:

  • managing schedules, including meetings and due dates/deadlines
  • interacting with university and non-university offices and individuals
  • assisting with special projects and miscellaneous job-related duties, as assigned

The position also entails more general office duties, such as

  • greeting visitors and answering phones, screening and routing calls
  • responding to inquiries, including routine questions from students, university partners and other members of the campus community
  • opening and routing office mail
  • establishing and maintaining physical and electronic files, including case management systems;
  • coordinating travel and preparing travel documents in accordance with University travel policies;
  • planning meetings and arranging catering, equipment and rooms

This position may assist with supervising student employees and provide assistance to other staff members that supervise student employees. This position may also support staff in other Student Life departments.

    Desired Qualifications

    • two or more years of previous work experience in an administrative/clerical support role
    • two or more years of previous work experience supporting a unit or department director or other leaders through calendar management, creating and submitting purchasing and travel requests, and responding to communication
    • two or more years of previous work experience in a higher education environment
    • one year of work experience in Student Life;
    • knowledge of Student Life and Student Conduct processes
    • at least one year of authorized user experience in Student Information System (SIS)
    • one or more years of experience using Maxient or other electronic case management system
    • at least one year of experience with Workday
    • previous experience with purchasing and/or arranging travel and knowledge of university business and travel policies
    • knowledge of university institutional data policies
    • proven work ethic with the ability to work independently or on a team
    • must be responsible, reliable, punctual, flexible, detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and think independently, be proactive in the management of job responsibilities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
    • must have strong communications skills, including excellent word processing and proof-reading skills
    • must have experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office software including Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Teams, OneNote, OneDrive and Word.

    Pay Range Starting at $17.74/hour

    Ohio State is focused on enhancing the health and safety of our community. Therefore, the university is requiring every student, faculty and staff member to be compliant with Ohio State’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement .

    By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire.

    Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Campus employees may also request an exemption for personal reasons. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions. All exemptions are subject to Ohio State’s approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
