Position Summary:

Reporting to the Program Director of the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education, the incumbent performs the listed general administration functions.

Typical Functions:

  • Greet clients and answers specific inquiries with a positive attitude. This includes detailed information regarding programs and services offered. Some inquires may require further research into the topic.
  • Assist with events such as meetings, interviews, training sessions, exams and event setup.
  • Assist with planning of events, such as travel arrangements, recruitment, classroom setup and exams.
  • Perform specific editing and reviewing of documents, audio, video and web content as required. Collect and enter data into established databases.
  • Monitor and post social media content to various platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.
  • Processe data, financial transactions, reports and registration forms as required.
  • Provide technical support for computer equipment, instruments (musical and scientific), other type of equipment (laboratory or audio/video) and programs.
  • Perform basic word processing functions such as, document formatting, labelling, spellcheck, mail merge, drafting letters from template.
  • Verifie forms that may be submitted.
  • Document preparation of forms, exams, marketing materials and emails. Such preparation may include sorting, collating, filing, scanning, photocopying and shredding.

Required Skills and/or Abilities:

  • • Self-motivated, well organized, and able to work individually or as part of a dynamic team.
  • • Demonstrated experience providing support for various administrative activities and dealing with confidential information.
  • • Organized with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • • Ability to receive and relay information with accuracy, work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • • Demonstrated ease and flexibility with technological applications with a proven ability to work in a PC environment using MS Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.

McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
