Job Description

The School of Earth and Space Exploration is looking for an Office Assistant. Under supervision of the Business Operations Manager Sr., this position will perform a variety of routine assignments to support the New Space and Bell science groups.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain file system
  • Manage supply and equipment inventory
  • Data entry
  • Update tracking sheets and logs
  • Order processing
  • Assist with set-up/break-down of events
  • Run campus errands
  • Deliver incoming purchase orders to appropriate staff or students
  • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

No prior experience required; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of professional etiquette
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Skill in reading, spelling and simple arithmetic
  • Skill in following verbal and written instructions
  • Skill in basic filing and record keeping
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment (printers, scanners)
  • Experience in using word processing and data entry skills

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
  • Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
  • Use office equipment including a calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard and mouse), printer, fax and copier
  • This position receives general review of objectives
