Job Description Summary
Off Campus Student Assistant work under the Off-Campus Living department
with an emphasis on peer education through drop in hours, scheduled student
appointments and programming initiatives. The OCL student assistant role was
created with the intention to educate prepare and support students in the
transition to living off campus.
The OCL student assistant role is to aid in this intention through facilitating
the support services directly stemming from this office. In addition to peer
education other tasks may include but are not limited to: staffing tabling
events, aiding with social media promotion, leading presentation, creating
marketing material, etc…
The OCL assistant will be asked to participate in orientation ( if available) and
other designated s OCSS signature events as their schedule allows. In addition,
the OCL assistant will maintain a professional customer service while serving
peers and families along with university staff and faculty who may need
assistance or have off-campus housing questions and concerns.
The ideal OCL candidate will be extremely responsible, creative, independent
worker, trustworthy, enthusiastic, and curious.

OCL student assistants are responsible for upholding a high level of
customer service to the many audiences which may be present during
office hours or events and offer positive advice and support regarding the
transition to off campus living
● OCL student assistant is responsible for working designated OCL
sponsored events as well as Fall & Spring Orientation, Family Weekend,
University 101 classes, RA meetings, etc…)
● OCL Assistant will coordinate projects throughout Fall and Spring
Semester i.e Off Campus Clothing Exchange, Neighbor Newsletter, Good
Neighbor Program
● OCL Student Assistant must be able to speak to the off-campus
environment using factual statistics and have knowledge of OCL’s
departmental mission, website and resources available to aid students.
Knowledge of basic tenant laws and the SF housing search process is
required
● Students must have excellent interpersonal and public communication
skills, as they are responsible for presenting materials during 1 on 1
appointments and to a larger audience as needed (i.e RA training)
● Student Assistants are responsible for Neighbor Newsletter and Neighbor
relations as it relates to marketing.
● OC Assistants must be punctual, responsible and dependable
● OC Assistant will need to be creative and innovative working with the
department to enhance and increase support for the off campus student
body
Minimum Qualifications:
● Must be an enrolled student qualified to work on campus.
● Familiar with San Francisco and aware of the off campus living
environment
● Team player/friendly attitude
● Exceptional communication skills
● Ability to lead and facilitate in a group setting
● Must be a self-motivator and be able to work independently
● Consciousness worker
Desired Qualifications:
● Active in University Life in some capacity i.e.: clubs/ organizations
● Familiar with San Francisco and enjoys living in the City
● Social Media experience or enjoys working with the many platforms
● Design Skills and knowledge of design platforms
● Experience with leadership position /peer mentoring
