Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 4:45pm; limited extended hours

Job Summary: The Nursing Supervisor will provide administrative direction, supervision, and management of the nursing services to ensure quality patient care and treatment. In addition, the Supervisor will provide treatment to patients within the scope of his/her license assisting physicians and nurse practitioners with patient care.

Additional Department Summary: The Nursing Supervisor will work under the oversight and leadership of the
Departmental Chair and Clinical Director to ensure all Obstetrics and Gynecology clinical activities(internal and external to UMC) operate efficiently and productively. Specifically this position will be staffed by a person with clinical nursing skills in order to provide a clinical perspective to better inform the staffing models and patient workflow process. This position will help facilitate the clinical staff support to the providers, including physicians, residents and medical students as we implement a patient-centered medical home model for the delivery of health care. Performs job duties/responsibilities in a way consistent with UA’s values and principles. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for working with the clinic medical directors to manage the medical care provided in the clinics. Administrative duties will include the supervision of clinic personnel, and establishing policies and procedures for the clinical staff.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree and a minimum of four (4) years of LPN or RN practical nursing experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of at two (2) years of LPN or RN practical nursing experience. Experience to include at least one (1) year in a supervisory, work leader or equivalent position.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Active Alabama Registered Nursing License

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of electronic health record systems, basic computer skills, i.e., word processing,
spreadsheet and/or database. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and
communication skills. Demonstrates willingness to modify one’s behavior to new information or
changing circumstances; adjust effectively to new work structures, processes, requirements, or
cultures. Ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside and outside

Preferred Qualifications: Practical nursing experiences in a primary care ambulatory environment preferred.
