Job Summary

NOTE:  This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus for new hires

Under the direct supervision of the medical director and faculty, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for providing direct patient care, complex care coordination, administrative functions including electronic medical messages (inBasket) coverage, teaching and research services. The NP will serve as a member of a comprehensive team of health care professionals to deliver high quality, efficient and complex care coordination for adult patients being evaluated for endocrine diseases (bone, general endocrine, thyroid) and procedures such as radioactive iodine therapy, cosyntropin stimulation tests etc.

Eligibility for Sign On Bonus – Candidate cannot be a current UC employee. Candidate cannot have been employed by the University during the 12 months prior to the proposed rehire date. Candidate position classification cannot be Senior Management Group (SMG). Candidate must meet any additional UC location eligibility requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-year related experience as Nurse Practitioner
  • Current and active California RN license
  • Current and active NP license
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification (BLS)
  • Current and active NP Furnishing license and verification of experience to furnish (if applicable)
  • UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role.  This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes about 90 days and must be completed prior to the first working day
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in any languages other than English
  • A Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and / or other specific qualifications may also be required by the department.
  • Familiar with Epic Electronic Health Record system
  • Prior experience as a nurse practitioner in an academic medical center setting
  • Experience working with patients with disease of the bone (including osteoporosis); thyroid disorders, diabetes care and other general endocrine disorders.
  • Compassion and interest in Endocrinology and Diabetes Care

License/Certification

  • California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position
  • Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

  • Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day.  CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
  • Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1

UCSF Health requires all Advanced Health Practitioners (APP) to be credentialed through OMAG to practice and be privileged through CIDP to function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites and affiliates. Credentialing, health plan enrollment, and approval of privileges must be completed prior to the first working day. Inability to comply with the requirements of OMAG/CIDP AT ALL TIMES will result in either, a LOA or suspension of privileges designation.
