Position Summary
Position plans, organizes, gives direction, and assists in all administrative and managerial aspects of an assigned nursing area.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs, analyzes, and evaluates nursing and related services rendered to improve the quality of patient care and plan proper utilization of staff.
  • Advises and assists in administering new treatments, assisting physicians with providing health care to patients.
  • Facilitates educational opportunities for staff to ensure compliance with medical school and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinates patient services with other departments and hospitals.
  • Monitors staff development and performs a variety of administrative duties, including job descriptions, job applications, interviews, personnel evaluations, employee work schedules, time records, etc.
  • Coordinates billing/insurance activities, monitors documentation, compliance and charge maximization.
  • Prepares reports as needed, records maintenance, provides input on the departmental budget and operations, and offers areas for improvement.
  • Participates in continued professional development, attending educational programs, in-service, and meetings as needed.
  • Promotes and maintains good public relations with patients/families and acts as a liaison between other departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN.
  • Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
  • Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with five years of related nursing experience; minimum of two years of previous management experience.
  • REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with the Compact Act; Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range
$82,900.00 – $149,300.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
