About the ICRC

 The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

 Your role

 The Water and Habitat (WatHab) Regional Knowledge Manager independently monitors the knowledge gaps and needs of WatHab operations (active in more than 40 countries with a staff of 650 engineers, technicians, and support staff). According to priorities, they propose and design new training courses or review existing ones with subject matter experts. They lead the evaluation and management of the information management tools and is responsible for animating the WatHab communication channels.

 Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

·       Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of the overall knowledge management activities for WatHab in line with unit and institutional strategies.

·       Support the development and update of the career development and learning paths.

·       Conduct independently knowledge, operational and training gaps analysis with the coordinators to guide the activities.

·       According to priorities and training gaps analysis, proposes and designs new training courses or reviews existing ones with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and network of Expertise (NoE).

·       Develop new learning opportunities on thematic files with SME & NoE by developing clear learning objectives, finding expert to develop the content, translating into self-pace or instructor lead training courses in iLearn and ensuring the development of capacity building enabling tools.

·       Responsible for disseminating independently the knowledge management tools among WatHab staff, ensuring their consistent application to foster collective knowledge collection, management and sharing within the WatHab community.

·       Proactively review and update, if necessary, the WatHab specific guidelines for the use of institutional Information Management tools and ensure their dissemination through the Knowledge Management focal points.

·       Independently develops and maintains partnership relationships to build capacity and increase knowledge sharing

·       Involve external stakeholders and partners in training as participants or facilitators.

 What we will look for in your profile

·       Bachelor’s degree in a technical domain related to public health engineering or related fields; A Master’s degree is an added advantage;

·         A minimum of 10-12 year’s professional experience with at least 5 years of knowledge management experience;

·         Experience in public health engineering in humanitarian context would be an advantage;

·         Proven experience in team and people management and leadership;

·         Knowledge of adult-learning approaches and practices, assessment and evaluation;

·         Ability to produce high quality visuals and reports adapted to both technical and non-technical audiences and capturing key messages.
