Overview of position | Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non- governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Under the overall supervision of the CBP and Capacity building Protection Officer, and the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant (Detention centres & Disembarkation points) and in close coordination with other colleagues including VHR registration team, the Migration Health Department (MHD) and the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHSS) unit, the successful candidate will identify protection risks, trends and capacities in detention centres vulnerable communities through ongoing community outreach and participation and provide support for protection cases identified requiring specialised assistance |
Role objectives | 1.Undertake regular protection monitoring visits to assigned locations such as detention centers, Migrant gathering, and Disembarkation points prepare protection assessment and monitoring reports. 2.Conduct vulnerability screenings and in-depth assessments in assigned locations to help identify urgent needs and make all necessary referrals. 3.Assist in preparing and planning to provide regular, timely and comprehensive follow-up in coordination with specialized protection colleagues and under the supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant. 4.Support the Senior Staff in creating new Monitoring tools for DCs, Disembarkation and Migrant community gathering points. 5.Assist the Senior Protection Assistant in preparing Monthly DC monitoring reports. 6.Inform beneficiaries of all relevant services available. Refer cases to relevant partner organizations and international organizations for appropriate follow-up and/or to other units within IOM for their respective follow-up. 7. 8.In collaboration with other relevant MHPSS colleagues, assists in conducting ongoing mapping for vulnerable communities and service providers as required. 9.Maintain up-to-date records and promptly complete all data entry and reporting requirements. 10.Carry out administrative duties as requested. 11.Participate in all relevant meetings. 12.Perform other duties as may be assigned. |
