Position Overview

The Philanthropy Manager (West Coast) will be responsible for executing strategic fundraising plans to mobilize resources, deepen donor engagement, and enhance CRY America’s visibility across California and Washington. You will lead efforts to expand the organization’s reach, cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), institutions, corporations and foundations, and manage key fundraising events like CRY galas and community initiatives. This role requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about CRY’s mission and committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of children.  The position is remote and travel is required as needed for events and donor meetings on the West Coast and occasionally for national events and activities. 


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Achieve engagement and revenue goals by developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising plans that target HNIs, corporate partners, and foundations across California and Washington.

  • Event Management: Organize and oversee successful CRY Galas and other outreach and engagement events in the Bay Area, San Diego, Southern California and Seattle to boost visibility and donor engagement.

  • Donor Cultivation & Stewardship: Build and nurture relationships with major donors, family foundations, and corporations through personalized communications, meetings, and consistent follow-up to ensure retention and growth.

  • Grants, Major Gifts & Sponsorships: Craft compelling grant proposals, secure event sponsorships, and generate reports for HNIs, foundations, family foundations and corporate donors. 

  • Partnership Development with Institutions: Expand and manage strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, and family foundations to increase institutional giving. 

  • Brand Building: Represent CRY America at high-profile corporate, community, and philanthropic events to raise awareness and build new donor pipelines. Also identify speaker opportunities to showcase CRY America’s work & acquire new donors.

  • Media Relations: Establish partnerships with media outlets (TV, print, radio) to promote CRY America’s mission and events in key West Coast cities.

 


 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

  • 3-plus years of experience in non-profit fundraising, corporate outreach, or event management preferred, with a strong preference for experience working with HNIs and institutions.

  • Experience and proven success in building and maintaining relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and institutional donors, particularly corporate donors.

  • Strong grant writing and impact reporting skills.

  • Experience in donor tracking and engagement tools and software.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Qualities

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present CRY America’s mission and goals to diverse audiences.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal skills: attentive listening and observation, transparency, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and clear communication.   

  • Proven experience managing fundraising events, securing sponsorships, and developing grant proposals.

  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel frequently within California and Washington (ability to drive long distances and fly as needed).

  • A passion for social justice and commitment to the rights of children, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.    

  • Passion for relationship building and joy in representing the organization in external settings. 

  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving, project management, analytical and creative-thinking skills.   

  • Strategic thinker with a proactive, ownership mindset.  

  • Track record giving and receiving effective feedback.  

  • Exhibit organization, flexibility and time management of daily tasks and long-term projects in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $60,000 to $72,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.

  • Health Insurance: Up to a maximum of $6,000 annually.

  • Paid Time Off: 15 days PTO and 5 sick days for 12 months worked.
