General Duties:

  1. Assist in the accurate recording and collating of medical records.
  2. Support in updating and organizing data related to MHT/fixed health facilities and RCCE activities.
  3. Assist with the maintenance of standards and procedural documentation for basic reporting tasks.
  4. Provide support to the Sr.HIS Officer and Provincial Health Manager in the preparation of routine reports.
  5. Help in reviewing and analyzing data to present basic trends and patterns based on monitoring indicators.

Specific Duties:

  1. Collect data on field level under supervision, ensuring completeness and basic quality checks.
  2. Assist in training health staff on data collection tools, when required.
  3. Support with field visits to specific provinces for data-related tasks, as needed.
  4. Help establish a basic feedback mechanism for data results, sharing them with the health team under guidance.
  5. Ensure that collected data on field level is shared with the Sr. HIS Officer on a weekly and monthly basis.
  6. Assist in ensuring that data from targeted Health Facilities is regularly submitted through the PHC toolkit.
  7. Conducting field visit and supporting data clerks on data collection and data management.
  8. Assist in entering health facility reports, such as MIAR and FSR, into DHIS2.
  9. Contribute to the timely submission of reports by providing necessary data to the HIS team.
  10. Follow standard procedures for data collection and confidentiality, ensuring the safe storage of both physical and electronic data.
  11. Maintain a simple tracking sheet for key project indicators, as assigned.
  12. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree computer science, data science, medical faculty or a related field.
  • Good Knowledge of Computers and Microsoft Office Applications and in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years previous experience working with information systems management, HIS, HMIS, monitoring and evaluation, database development and management; NGO experience is an advantage. Statistics, data analysis all relevant areas of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with data entry and data management.
  • Previous experience working for an NGO or other non-profit organization.
  • Excellent organization skills: the ability to work independently and productively in a fast-paced environment.

Desired qualifications:

  • Prior working experience with statistical packages is added advantage.
  • Working experience with International NGOs or similar set-up
  • Experience of working in medical reporting
  • Skills: Excellent organization skills: the ability to work independently and productively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying patience, compassion, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to be innovative, flexible, and adaptive.
  • Ability to live in challenging conditions and ability to work under difficult, high-pressure situations.   
  • Fluency in English.

Technical Competency:

  • Communication and reporting skills
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari and English
  • Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage
  • Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
