Position Summary:

The Fundraising Coordinator will support Linked Africa through leadership and services, incorporating evidence-based approaches and building on our experience. As a key role within Finance and audit, the Fundraising Coordinator will support developing and managing the individual giving strategy for Linked Africa in conjunction with the CFO and CEO. The coordinator will assist and oversee the implementation of a donor recruitment and retention program, which will provide the basis for public fundraising growth over the next three years.

Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate as a key member with teams in upstream capture processes to lay the groundwork for strategic, contextualized proposal documents.
  • Participate as a lead member on teams in design discussions, documenting the proceedings to inform proposal development.
  • Write and develop original proposal content on assignment from proposal design leads, researching the topic to aid strategy and technical development as necessary.
  • Lead the synthesis of material from the range of assigned technical writers to always develop proposals with uniform style and voice, analyzing the text against narrative requirements to determine what additional resources are necessary to deliver an excellent proposal.
  • Submit multiple drafts for team reviews, incorporating comments from reviewers in liaison with proposal design leads and technical writers.
  • Develop and execute a new Regular Giving (RG) Proposition and RG journey. Repeat giving (2nd and 3rd+ gifts) from new donors, especially from Emergency donor acquisition. Curate new IG-focused content before calendared campaign activity to tell stories to maximize unrestricted income generation, including highly visualized country and program summaries.
  • Implement the agreed-upon annual plans, including, but not limited to, direct mail / warm and cold (press inserts/door drops), direct dialogue, DRTV, telemarketing, and digital plans.
  • Monitor annual marketing budgets and maintain them to ensure all expenditures remain within budget.
  • Manage 3rd party contractors to ensure plans are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Liaise with Operations and Media departments to ensure optimal program information is used.
  • Liaise with fundraising team members to ensure an optimal calendar of activities.

Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, with a strong focus on individual giving, donor acquisition, and retention, ideally within an international NGO.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement successful individual giving campaigns.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage donors.
  • Attention to detail, proofreading, and an ability to tell stories in an emotive and engaging way is essential in this role, especially concerning phrasing, spelling, grammar, and excellence in the written word. Examples may be required as part of the recruitment process.
  • Proficient in using donor management systems and CRM software.
  • Flexible and responsive to change, with a problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to tasks.
