The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role
The successful candidate will work with the CRG’s Scientific and Technology and Business Development teams acting as New Ventures Project Manager of specific projects in the biomedical technology sector. We are seeking for an enthusiastic innovator / business developer with strong work ethics to support the exploitation of CRG Intellectual Property portfolio with a focus on RNA modulation and therapy. You will work closely together with scientists, innovators, business developers, entrepreneurs, investors, and IPR and legal counsels.
The successful candidate will:
- Assess new venture opportunities based on scientific results in close collaboration of CRG’s scientific and business development teams.
- Identify key proof of concept data minimally required to demonstrate the applicability of the technology.
- Engage project stakeholder to secure their on-going commitment and support. Take the lead in conversations with key external stakeholders (KOLs, industry representatives, Investors etc).
- Evaluate the commercial potential of the inventions and technologies generated in the specific projects.
- Work out and implement business strategies in discussion with scientific and business teams.
- Coordinate with scientist and business teams road shows for funding and the required information, marketing and due diligence material need it.
- Prepare corporate structure and management of new ventures.
- Support TBDO team in securing IPR, contract negotiations with collaborators, investors, industry and fostering innovation and entrepreneurial activities.

The Technology and Business Development Office (TBDO) engages with CRG`s scientists with ambition to transform scientific results into solutions for the market. Our aim is to ensure beneficial impact on society. We strike for an inclusive environment of scientific and entrepreneurial excellence, offering CRG`s scientist business-oriented training and connections with investors and industry experts. TBDO strategically evaluates, protects and commercializes products and services for the life science sector through licensing and launching of spin off companies.
Whom would we like to hire?
Professional experience
Must Have
- You have scientific background in molecular biology, expanding to RNA biology and cancer
- You have a strong entrepreneurial mindset
- You have proven experience in innovation activities in the life sciences sector
- Training in entrepreneurship and project valorisation methodology to transform basic knowledge ‘from the lab into innovations for the marketplace’
Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
- Basic corporate finance
- Experience in business development and/or tech transfer
Education and training
- You hold a PhD in Molecular Biology or equivalent
Languages
- You are highly proficient in English, preferably also Spanish and Catalan
Technical skills
- Written skills to elaborate financial and business reports
- Skills to elaborate marketing material
- You have advanced MS Office skills
Competences
- Highly developed organization and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with different stakeholders across the life science industry
- You are goal-minded
The Offer – Working Conditions
- Contract duration: Linked to project Agaur, estimated 18 months
- Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
