- This position requires a 10-month commitment. The Oakland County Natural Resources Outreach Technician will serve independently in the office and through field visits and meetings with local communities. Service will focus on meeting with local practitioners, compiling and developing materials, and hosting trainings. Graphic design and web development services will be provided by Oakland County but the technician can assist heavily based on interest and background. The position will spend time outside observing and learning about specific techniques, issues, and projects (such as rain garden installations or oak wilt treatment techniques) and will utilize technology (such as smartphones, and photo/video equipment) to document information. Minimal regional travel may include visiting different Oakland County properties, hosting meetings throughout the County, or other regional meetings as required. The service member will have access to Oakland County vehicles through the Parks and Recreation Department. A valid driver’s license is required.

- Qualifications
- Required for position
College degree required, preferred degree in natural resources management, sustainability, biology, ecology, forestry, communications, marketing or a related field
Computer efficiency (email, excel, ArcGIS Online)
Highly motivated and organized
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience presenting and facilitating
Computer efficiency (typing, email, word processing, excel)
Ability to pass a background check*
U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien
Commitment to conserving the forests, lakes and streams of MichiganPreferred for position
Experience with graphic design or layout
