Essential Job Functions
The selected candidate will have major responsibilities in developing and implementing the EMPLOYS Traineeship program and will work closely under the general supervision of the MEM and MSE Directors to manage all aspects of this program. Key tasks will include advertising and recruiting, managing student applications and admissions, budget oversight, travel planning and logistics, internal and external communications, pre-enrollment examinations, website management, tracking student and programmatic progress, coordinating evaluation logistics and reporting, assisting faculty advisors, coordination of internships, record keeping, data management, managing events, community and stakeholder engagement, grant writing, and other duties as assigned.
The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating activities between PIs and core participants, other faculty advisors, the Clark School of Environment and Sustainability administration, and external partners such as local and regional public lands agencies and NGOs. This position will be the primary point of contact for a diverse range of students, faculty, and external partners who want to engage with the program and will coordinate student-centered educational and career-development activities. Since this is a new program at Western with a deliberately innovative approach to graduate education, the Program Coordinator must be flexible and willing to take risks, seek additional resources to support the program and students, and outreach to external audiences to recruit and promote the program. Frequent, well-organized and detailed communication is expected.

• Stay current on emerging technologies by attending workshops and trainings
• Suggest and integrate new ideas into strategic academic planning for the benefit of the NRT program
• Demonstrate behaviors that are in line with the DEI and Title IX objectives
• Demonstrate safe work practices for oneself, others and the office environment
This position may require working a flexible schedule on occasion (with advance notice) and in an outdoor environment on uneven terrain. The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal background check.
Compensation
The rate of pay is $24.04 per hour. The position of Program Coordinator is FLSA non-exempt. This position is fully benefitted. The Program Coordinator position is part-time; 60% of full-time (approximately 24 hours per week). Four years of funding for this position are secured.
If the successful Candidates holds a master’s degree or PhD, they are eligible and may be asked to teach courses in the Environment and Sustainability, Natural and Environmental Science, or Math and Computer Science programs (according to their qualifications), or to mentor students, for up to an additional 40% of full-time.

Desired Qualifications
• Master’s Degree or PhD in environmental management, natural resource management, science, or related field
• Experience with grant administration
• Proficiency using software for marketing and communications, multimedia and video, website design and maintenance such as CMS
• Experience with administrative and/or fiscal tools, including purchasing and invoicing and expenditure tracking
• Experience supporting an interdisciplinary educational program
