Chemonics seeks applications from qualified professionals for our ongoing, five-year USAID Vietnam Action Against Plastic Pollution (VnAAPP) Activity. This Activity seeks to help Vietnam to reduce ocean plastic pollution at its source under three objectives to improve integrated solid waste management, reduce use of single use plastics, and foster action through extended producer responsibility.

Chemonics seeks candidates for the following areas for this Activity with the necessary qualifications:

  • Municipal solid waste management
  • Municipal solid waste recycling
  • Informal sector waste management and recycling
  • Extended producer responsibility
  • Source reduction and packaging
  • Single use plastics reduction models
  • Waste management capacity building
  • Government municipal services management and procurement
  • Landfill management and design
  • Private sector engagement

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering, waste management, recycling, water and natural resource management, public policy, public administration, economics, communications, business or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in relevant disciplines listed, with experience in Vietnam or elsewhere in Asia preferred.
  • Strong understanding of municipal solid waste systems, investment structures, and performance- and incentive-based waste management
  • Experience working with vulnerable urban populations preferred​.
  • Experience with USAID or other donor-funded programs preferred.
  • Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to form strong working relationships, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
  • Fluency in English, orally and in writing.
