Job Summary:

The Multimedia Designer will join the staff of the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
CIAS has historically produced several regular publications including print research briefs and newsletters, e-newsletters, and annual reports. We are seeking to expand capacity in our ability to assist with the production of videos and podcasts.
The Multimedia Designer will primarily create video, photo, and audio assets that will share the work, knowledge, and passion related to sustainable agricultural systems at UW-Madison. This position will work closely with many members of the CALS community to create professional, high-impact outreach solutions for stakeholders throughout the state. Successful applicants will be responsible for knowledgeably taking a project of any size and scope through conception to ideation to finished deliverable using in-house video, audio, and photo equipment. An interest in and experience with agricultural systems is not required, but strongly desired.

Responsibilities: Designs and develops multimedia solutions and materials in collaboration with other content creators, adhering to project timelines and developing and posting content for a specified unit in support of visually and contextually communicating messages aligned with unit strategy.
  • 25% Conceptualizes, plans, designs, and executes multimedia solutions for a specific work unit that may be used through various platforms in collaboration with stakeholders and other content creation staff
  • 20% Contributes to the development of communication, event, and marketing materials to fit into the overall strategy of the work unit
  • 10% Tracks and manages timelines and deliverables related to communication projects
  • 20% Directs operational activities for multiple communication platforms and posts content within a work unit that may include websites, social media, written/illustrative communications, and online tools
  • 20% Develops communication, event, and marketing strategies and materials to align with the overall work unit strategic initiative
  • 5% Develops and facilitates trainings for staff and customers regarding technology options and best practices

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree
Journalism, marketing, communications, or related field.

Qualifications:

Experience in communications, agriculture and/or food systems, English, science writing, or related field, preferred.

License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License – Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 50% – 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $50,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
