Position Summary Information

Advertisement St. Catherine University invites applications for Multicultural and International Services Program Coordinator. This is a regular, full-time position.
This position will assist in the creation and implementation of programs and services that help with the successful matriculation of low income, first generation, BIPOC, LGBTQA, and international students at St. Catherine University. St. Catherine University is a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) and is committed to increasing engagement and degree completion for traditionally underrepresented students. The Program Coordinator will create and oversee opportunities that help all students gain and develop culturally-competent leadership skills and self-efficacy.
Responsibilities include:
  • Plan and implement on-going programming for and with students.
  • Collaborate with other departments to co-sponsor events
  • Assist in the publication of the MIPS Gazette – the departments newsletter.
  • Work with students one-on-one to support, problem solve and refer to encourage continuation of their degree attainment
  • Introduce students and the St. Kate’s community to cultural and justice related programs and resources
  • Seek partnerships with other departments serving cohorts of students of color such as Public Health, Financial Aid and College Possible LEAP
  • Provide support to student organizations such as Latina Student Association
  • Market campus resources to students that meet their needs
  • Assist with implementation of the Pen Pal Mentoring Program for Middle School & High School students in the Twin Cities/Greater MN Schools to connect with our St. Kate’s multicultural and international students & alumnae.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or a related field. A combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year of experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Experience with and knowledge of educational issues of multicultural students & first generation college students.
  • Experience working with multicultural, immigrant and refuge communities.
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively with range of people from high school students to alumnae.
  • Demonstrated programming skills and group facilitation skills.
  • Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills.
  • Interest and experience with multicultural responsiveness training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with secondary education
