Required Minimum Qualifications:
• One year experience driving trucks. • Possession of the class (class A, B, C or D) of drivers license appropriate to vehicle driven and/or materials transported.

Preferred Qualifications:
Delivery experience, specifically within package and freight delivery
Warehouse receiving experience
Experience using electronic devices, such as, smart phones, tablets and computers
Experience using forklifts and electric pallet jacks

Job Description:

Iowa State University is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator II to work as a delivery driver within the Central Receiving operation. This position is responsible for daily delivery of packages and palletized goods and equipment to the Iowa State University community. This is a physical position that involves lifting and carrying packages daily. Must be able to lift 100 lbs., climb stairs, make sound judgements, have a sense of urgency, and provide high-level customer service. Performs as a laborer when not driving in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Successful candidate will possess the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; knowledge of hazards and safety precautions related to warehousing and delivery work; the ability to perform heavy manual labor; and the ability to work in a varying weather conditions.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

• Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and communicate orally.

• Ability to operate moving equipment such as pallet movers and forklifts.

• Ability to make sounds judgments and decisions.

• Ability to safely operate and insure proper maintenance of vehicles.

• Knowledge of proper loading/securing techniques for specialized cargo.

• Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing operation of state vehicles.

• Knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
