Medical Statistician

The Oxford Vaccine Group is seeking an enthusiastic statistician or epidemiologist to work on vaccine research of global importance to the health of populations.

The ideal candidate would have an interest in vaccines or infectious disease research and be keen to contribute their data analysis skills to the highly successful vaccine development programme in Oxford. The post-holder will join a team of (currently) 9 statisticians and epidemiologists who work closely together to deliver detailed analysis of clinical trials and observational studies across a broad range of research areas. This will include a wide range of COVID-19 research projects but may also include studies of typhoid, pneumococcoal disease, measles, RSV, Ebola, influenza and other vaccine-preventable diseases. As well as contributing to the teams efforts, you will have opportunities to develop your own research ideas and contribute to academic publications.

To succeed in this post you will hold a PhD in statistics/epidemiology or a relevant field (or be near completion), or post-graduate qualifications with substantial relevant experience, and have excellent communication skills and a commitment to producing accurate and appropriate analysis in a timely fashion.

Strong analytical skills, an enquiring and flexible attitude, and an interest in working collaboratively with researchers from different disciplines will also be important components for success.

This is a full-time post located at the Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine at Churchill Hospital, Oxford OX3 7LE and is offered for two years in the first instance.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.
