You will be based in Austria.About the roleThe Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert within Medical Affairs in the therapeutic areas of Rheumatology (80%) and Osteoporosis (20%). Your role includes the conduct of scientific discussions and presentations including responses to unsolicited questions. Core content of these discussions will be topics of unmet medical needs which are of scientific / developmental importance to UCB in Immunology. You are also involved in feasibility processes around the generation of real-world evidence data and are the primary contact person for investigators interested in investigator-initiated research, donations, grants as well as for developing and executing the medical content of the local ecosystem plan. In addition, you will build local medical plans, conduct advisory boards and arrange scientific symposiums.Who you’ll work with:As the MSL you are the scientific discussion partner that interacts with national and international Thought Leaders (Key opinion leaders: KOLs), and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) at various phases of the product life cycle. You work externally and internally, and closely with an integrated team across functions, and will report to the Field Medical Lead Rheumatology BeLux & Alps.What will you do:

  • Conduct proactive identification and management of key medical targets in an agile way based on local ecosystem dynamics.
  • Have in-depth scientific discussions with HCPs to explore and identify new sources of patient value (innovative solutions and services) by placing the holistic disease burden of people suffering from chronic immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) high on healthcare´s agenda.
  • Partner with key KOLs, payers, patient organizations and patients to advance medical initiatives in defined clinical practice areas to drive optimal patient care.
  • Share insights, innovation, opportunities and patient needs internally to the patient-value units (both in the local ecosystem and in the wider ABN medical team).
  • Drive development of real-world evidence in the local ecosystem and leverage the value of UCB solutions for patients to medical and payer communities.

Interested? For this position you will need the following education, experience and skills:

  • within field of Immunology/Life Sciences, PhD in Immunology is a big plus.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills.
  • Languages: German and English (written and spoken)
  • Work experience as MSL. Previous launch experience is a big plus.
  • Patient orientated and customer service mindset. Business acumen with a good understanding and holistic view on the healthcare ecosystem.
  • Influencing skills, by building trust, staying consistent and being assertive in a considerate way
  • Project management skills
